2. Information we collect

We collect the following information in connection with your use of the Site.

• Information you enter in the contact form (name, email address, subject, and message)
• Information recorded automatically when you submit the form (IP address and submission time)
• Information recorded automatically as you browse the Site (IP address, browser type and version, referring page, pages viewed, access time, and identifiers such as cookies)
• Information contained in any email you send to us

3. Purposes of use

We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes.

• Responding to inquiries, interview requests, press releases, and related correspondence
• Operating, maintaining, and improving the Site, and analysing how it is used
• Preventing and responding to unauthorised access, spam, and other improper conduct
• Complying with applicable laws and exercising or performing our rights and obligations

4. Proper acquisition

We do not acquire personal information by deception or other improper means. The Site is not directed primarily at children under 13, and we do not intend to collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

5. Restrictions on provision to third parties

We do not provide personal information to third parties without your prior consent, except in any of the following cases.

• Where necessary to protect a person's life, body, or property and it is difficult to obtain your consent
• Where specially necessary to improve public health or promote the sound development of children and it is difficult to obtain your consent

6. Outsourcing

We may outsource all or part of the handling of personal information to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of use. In such cases, we assess the suitability of the contractor in light of its security control measures, require proper handling of personal information under the contract, and exercise necessary and appropriate supervision.

7. Provision to third parties in foreign countries

The Site uses the services listed below, and personal information is accordingly provided to third parties located in foreign countries. The details of what is transmitted are set out in Sections 8 and 9.

Articles may also embed content provided by third parties, such as video, audio, and store information. When such content is displayed, your IP address, browser information, and the URL of the page you are viewing are transmitted to that provider in order to deliver the content, and that provider may set its own cookies. The principal providers are listed below; which of them appear depends on the article.

8. Cookies and access analysis (external transmission)

The Site uses Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC, to understand how the Site is used and to improve it (loaded via Google Tag Manager). The information collected is used only to analyse usage trends; it is not used for advertising.

Accordingly, the following information is transmitted to Google LLC (United States) together with identifiers such as cookies. It does not include information that directly identifies you, such as your name or email address.

9. Spam prevention (external transmission)

The contact form on the Site uses Cloudflare Turnstile, provided by Cloudflare, Inc., to prevent automated submissions.

Accordingly, the following information is transmitted to Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) and used solely to determine whether the request comes from a human. Cloudflare states that it does not use information obtained through Turnstile for advertising purposes.

The Site is also delivered via Cloudflare Pages, so communication data such as your IP address is transmitted to Cloudflare when you browse it. What you submit through the contact form (your name, email address, subject, and message) also passes through Cloudflare infrastructure on its way to our mail server in Japan.

10. Security control measures

We take necessary and appropriate measures to prevent the leakage, loss, or damage of personal information and otherwise to manage it securely. These include limiting the personnel and areas that handle personal information, encrypting communications (HTTPS), and implementing measures against unauthorised access.

11. Retention period

We retain personal information only for the period necessary to achieve the purposes of use, and endeavour to delete it without delay once it is no longer needed. Information relating to inquiries is retained so that we can review the history and respond to any follow-up.

12. Disclosure, correction, and suspension of use

You or your representative may request notification of the purpose of use, disclosure, correction, addition or deletion of content, suspension of use or erasure, suspension of provision to third parties, and disclosure of third-party provision records, in respect of retained personal data.

To make a request, please contact us using the details in Section 14. We will ask for documents verifying your identity and will respond in accordance with applicable law. No fee is charged in principle. However, for requests for notification of the purpose of use or for disclosure, where actual costs are incurred we may charge an amount equivalent to those costs, after informing you of the amount in advance.
