When asked what SKOOTA GAMES is, I've always given an explanation like the one written below.
Well, since not many people ask, I just quietly posted it on the website.
It’s an indie game project where creators and programmers with diverse talents from the indie game scene join forces with creators from the anime world to create interesting and edgy games, rich in world-building and storytelling, with a passionate team.
Of course, this is entirely true! However, since it has already been six months (as of September 2024) since we started calling ourselves "SKOOTA GAMES," I thought it would be nice to explain a bit more in detail.
What is SKOOTA GAMES?
SKOOTA GAMES is an indie game label operated by the anime studio Scoota Films. While I wrote "operated," the reality is more like "the creative team that was making animations has simply started making games!" It’s quite a rough transition. At the studio, people who were previously directors, producers, and animators in anime are now working with producers to create game concepts and prepare characters, world-building, and stories. The production team is pushing the projects forward while also planning promotional strategies, participating in events, and performing publisher duties (by learning as they go), and naturally, they are also producing promotional materials in-house. Since it’s an anime studio, they actually create the promotional videos first. When brainstorming "What kind of game concept would be good?" quite a few "V-Contes" come up. There’s an attitude of "It’s easier to understand if you show it moving." Of course, there are also explanations through illustrations.
Additionally, as I’ve mentioned on social media, the AP is using Google and ChatGPT to research while actually tinkering with Unity to create a playable demo. It feels more like a club activity or a hobby, but starting out like this is perfectly fine, and I believe the "Do It Yourself" spirit is the most important. After all, if you don’t try it out first, you won’t even know who to ask for what. Fortunately, the veterans in the indie game scene have warmly welcomed us and are teaching us various things, so in response to their kindness, we are fully committed to "giving it a try."
As for SKOOTA GAMES and Scoota Films, of course, I must honestly admit that "there are things we just can’t do." So, I want to continue being straightforward about the following points!
At SKOOTA GAMES, we are always looking to meet partners who can work with us on game development.
Not just game creators and programmers, but also scenario writers, illustrators, animators, and producers—if you’re interested, please feel free to reach out.
Let’s create some exciting indie games together!
In fact, one of the titles we are currently developing is in collaboration with an amazing game creator! (It’s scheduled to be released around the beginning of the year, so stay tuned!)
So, if you’re someone who wants to create games together, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! (For inquiries, please contact us here!!)
SKOOTA GAMES will be exhibiting at the Tokyo Game Show 2024, which will be held from September 26 to 29. We’ll be in a small corner of the indie game area at a turnkey booth, but we’re close to the larger booths of Room 6 and Yokaze, so we’d be thrilled if you could make an effort to find us!

Our beloved character, Futomomo Usagi, will be our landmark (probably).
